Fretting corrosion

Fretting corrosion resistance: mechanical parts rubbing against each other or submitted to vibration might wear out and be corroded.

This problem is increased by a galvanic effect due to the difference of metal in touch plus a wet atmosphere.

Microflon® and Fluorimid® are solution to these problems. Typical applications take place in helicopters parts where vibrations are important and for off-shore equipments when parts have to come apart, main applications in both cases is coating screws and bolts to avoid oxyacetylene torch which is definitely destructive and dangerous for off-shore platforms.
